Mangos.
Mangos are delicious. I cant remember the last time or even if I ever have eaten a fresh mango. I also bought a coconut but I'll save that for a different blog post. As soon as I figure out how to open it. It has been rainy in Buenos Aires the past 3 days. Tomorrow I will be taken my Spanish level placement test to see which Spanish class I will be in. I also have my first day of class tomorrow. hmm....

Hello from Buenos Aires
Getting here was looonnnggg. Let me tell you. My flight from Albuquerque to Atlanta was delayed and wants worse is we ran in to weather trouble. I had 10 minutes to get to my next flight. I got there in 11 mins and ran through 3 terminals. It felt like I was carrying a small child on my back. So I didnt make it but then Delta was like "HEY! Dont worry! you can go to chili right now and get a connecting flight straight away when you get there!" So I was like "okey dokey" But then that flight got delayed cause of weather and we were late getting into Santiago, Chili. And i missed my connecting flight. I got ANOTHER connecting flight a few hours later and voila, in Buenos Aires. However; anyone familiar with the word "zero"? you know? "nada"? zip. nothing. Well that's what kind of baggage I had when I got here. Zero baggage. But I was so relaxed and chilled that I didnt really care. But I'm not sure I will be wearing my Eddie Bauwer sweat suit again for sometime.
I checked into my hotel. And I went to orientation. I've made a couple of acquaintances. People are very friendly and today I found a place to live. It's located right around here. It's next to a huge park and the port. It's also very close to downtown and a bus takes me directly to school.

I need to buy a phone still. :/

Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires: A country of hearings. I've heard it's a place full of meat. I've heard it's a place full of blondes? I've heard many say they avoid the place for fear of staying there forever. Well here you come, "BS AS" (slang copied from the only "porteno" I know).
It's time for my frist experience in South America. Again, I hear it's quite nice down there. After too many hours on many transportation vessels, we sha'll see when I will arrive... but as for now I'm aiming for March 1st.

I will see what the air with breath like. I will see what the ocean will drink like. I will see what smells will be smelling.
Farewell for now,
Emily

Home-->
Home sweet home, from the long showers to the shitty reality tv. After a long absence away, it seems nothing could be better than home.

Yesterday morning I woke up with a two cats and a dog at the foot of my queen size bed. How I missed this bright yellow room! It is a big change coming from sleeping on a single mattress on the floor for 4 months in a tiny Parisian apartment to this life of a princess. Don't get me wrong. Paris is magical but at the same time I can't help but feel some of the magic is a bit commercialized and some minor details about Paris are somehow frequently forgotten.
For example: Toilet seats: since when are toilet seats a luxury in modern day Europe?
Immigrants: Tour books never mention the thousands of African and Middle Eastern men who would love nothing more than to pick on you on the street. But don't be scared. Most of them are harmless.
Public Transportation: the metro is the most convenient thing in Paris but why does everyone seem to be trying so hard to avoid eye contact with one another. It's like a game of thumb war that never ends. "Dodge, leap, right, left, look at my shoes... hmmm.. what time is it?, should I pull out my book?..., I think I'll go for the spaced out look...,Homerun: Finally off the train!!"
The benefits of home are glorious. Singing at the top of my breath in the car continues to be one of my favorite hobbies. These lungs needed some exercise after daily secondhand smoke. The view of the mountains and the city are comfortably recognizable and for the next few weeks I plan on relaxing with friends and living a healthy and familiar life style.
